The Spotted Grouper is a wonderful, though small, beach house nestled among moss-covered twisted oaks on the Gulf coast of Florida. This 950 sq. ft. Old-Florida beach bungalow has two bedrooms and one bath and is located just 45 miles south of Tallahassee near Apalachicola in the small town of Panacea.

Adjacent to Bald Point State Park and a stone's throw from secluded gulf beaches abounding with sea oat covered sand dunes, the Spotted Grouper has just completed its sixth year of cozily housing guests.
Recent updates to our beach cottage include locally-made heartpine cabinets for the kitchen and bathroom, area rugs, and access to local channels on the telly. According to the comments made this year in our guest book, "using the outdoor shower" and "spotting the white squirrel" are tops on the list of fun activities (though one family even got a kick out of using the toaster!).

The Spotted Grouper sleeps 4 with a double bed and 2 twin beds. Sheets and towels are available for guest use. We currently do not allow pets, and smoking is only permitted outside.
Panacea is 330 miles from Atlanta and it usually takes our family between 6 and 6 ½ hours to drive. The Grouper is equipped with satellite TV, DVD, phone, microwave, a washer, and dryer. Some say this area offers the best fishing in Florida, and certainly the local seafood (both at the markets and in the restaurants) attest to that claim.
